Description
Oris have partnered with the social enterprise, Bracenet, to bring a new Aquis Date watch featuring spectacular, vibrant coloured dials made from the fishing nets left in the sea. Bracenet makes accessories from so-called ‘ghost’ nets. These nets have been left in the sea after fishing and cause damage to the underwater environment and devastation to the sealife. Bracenet removes these end-of-life nets, cleans them and turns them into a collection of accessories including bracelets, bags and now dials for the two new Oris Aquis Date watches.
Making these kaleidoscopic dials involves taking small green, blue and white offcuts of nets and gently warming them until they melt into the raw material. As they cool, they harden into a thin sheet of material. This is then cut to size, planed, and sanded down until it’s just 0.3mm thick. The material contains no additives, fillers or glues and no two dials are the same.
The Oris Aquis Date has become an iconic Oris design. Loved for its combination of sporty looks and functionality, this popular style is suited to many occasions. Designed as a divers watch, the Aquis Date is water resistant to an impressive 300m, with a screw-down crown and rotatable bezel. The synthetic sapphire glass covering the dial is anti-reflective ensuring visibility at all times. The stainless steel bracelet features multi-piece links which we can remove or add in-store to fit your wrist.
An independent Swiss company, Oris have been passionate about watches since 1904 and are proud of their long history and heritage. Producing only mechanical movements, Oris believe a mechanical watch is a thing of beauty to be enjoyed for generations.
