SMO stands for Single Mine Origin. Every ounce of SMO gold can be traced to specific mines, selected because they are accredited with the highest responsibility standards whilst also providing vital social, environmental, and cultural support to the communities they operate in.
It is important to appreciate that less than 1% of gold in the world is fully traceable and without traceability there is no accountability.
Single Mine Origin gold is kept segregated from any other material throughout the supply chain and is sourced from mines which are independently audited to operate to international best practice.
Each batch of SMO gold is fully traced through the chain of custody from mine to jeweller, with a fully documented paper-trail maintained.
SMO gold is supplied with a QR code, allowing you to see from exactly which mine the gold in your ring was sourced and learn more about the social and environmental impacts associated with your purchase.
