Originally developed in the 1950s in response to requests from physicists, engineers and techicians exposed to major magnetic fields on a daily basis, the Rolex Milgauss is exceptionally resistant to extreme magnetic environments. Rolex created this watch with a focus on technological progress. All the components of the Milgauss contribute to ensuring its performance when subjected to intense magnetic fields. A magnetic shield is mounted inside the case as protection allowing the Rolex Milgauss to resist magnetic fields of up to 1000 gauss, far exceeding the ordinary magnetic resistance of timepieces, which is approximately 100 gauss.
